Learning How to be Friends
Making friends and knowing what to say can be tricky sometimes. This is where role-play comes in! When you pretend to be a doctor, teacher, or chef, you are practicing real-life social skills in a safe, fun way.
Expert OT Tip:
We choose toys that help kids practice social-emotional learning. Play is the best way to learn about feelings, sharing, and taking turns.
Top Role-Play Ideas:
- Doll House: Great for telling stories and practicing voices.
- Toy Doctor Kits: Help kids understand new situations (like a trip to the doctor) by acting them out.
- Cooking/Shop Sets: Teaches sharing, teamwork, and how to use money and wait in line.
